Milestones

1952

Company activity began in 1952. The founder, the late Dimitrios G. Kepenos, founded the first water mill in Perivola, Patras, to serve the needs of local residents.


1966

In 1966, the traditional water-powered stone mill was converted into a roller mill, a conversion that had been prohibited until then.


1967

In 1967, the first cylindrical roller of Russian origin was installed, and thus a model roller mill was created in the region.


1978

In 1978, the first significant investment stage was implemented through the construction of a 450m2 two-storey building equipped with the relevant machinery. Thus, production reached 25 tons per 24 hours.


1981

In 1981, the company expanded its machinery and production capacity reached 48 tons per 24 hours.


1986

In 1986, the Company became a Limited Company under the name KEPENOS FLOUR MILLS S.A., which now included the founder’s children.


1990

The last machinery expansion was implemented in this year and the capacity now stood at 120 tons per 24 hours. Product diversity significantly increased, reaching a total of 16.


1998

Within less than a year, in July 1998, the vision of the founder Dimitrios G. Kepenos to create one of the largest flour milling industries in the country had begun to take shape. With respect for the tradition and heritage of its multiyear experience, one of the most modern flour milling industries began operation in privately-owned facilities in the Industrial Area of Patras, with a wheat milling capacity of 310 tons per 24 hours.


2001

In September 2001, the company completed the installation of a grain unloading complex at the port of Patras with a capacity of 3,000 tons of grain per day.


2001

In December 2001, the new millennium began and the dynamic course of the company was sealed by its official entry in the Athens Stock Exchange. At the same time, the new wheat milling production line commenced operation, increasing capacity by 120 tons per 24 hours.


2003

Since June 2003, an extra wheat milling production line has been in operation, with capacity now boosted to in excess of 700 tons per 24 hours.


2013

In less than six months, Flour Mills Kepenos start to operate two fully equipped warehouses in Thessaloniki and Kavala, expanding the range of the company across the country.
